Slushy

Get out of the slush pile.

Slushy matches authors with literary agents. You build one structured pitch card. Verified agents swipe through cards that fit what they're actively looking for. A right swipe is a request for pages and opens a conversation.

Free for authors and agents. No reading fees, no pay-to-be-seen. How we make money.

Pitch

Isra has run salt across the Hollow for twelve years without once telling the truth to a customs officer. Then a god collapses in her caravan, and the only way to get paid is to deliver it alive to a city that wants it dead.

The Hollow punishes lies. Isra is made of them.

For authors

Querying means sending dozens of letters, waiting months, and often hearing nothing. It's hard to know who's even open to your genre right now.

  • One card, not fifty letters

Hook, comps, pitch, first page. Every card has the same shape so agents can decide in seconds.

  • No black holes

See how many agents viewed your card and how many requested pages. Always know where you stand.

  • Passes stay private

You see a count of passes, never which agents passed. Rejection is data, not a notification.

For agents

Hundreds of queries, most of which don't fit your list. Sorting them is unpaid time. Slushy only wins if it saves you hours.

  • Only what fits your wishlist

Categories, genres, keywords, and hard no's. If a card doesn't match, you never see it.

  • Verified agents only

Every agent is checked by a human against their agency site and recent sales before they see a single card.

  • Never a second inbox

A right swipe requests pages and opens one thread. Authors can't message you first.

How it works

  1. 1

    Authors build a pitch card

Title, category, genre, word count, two or three comps, a one-line hook, a short pitch, and optionally your first page.

  2. 2

Agents set a wishlist and swipe

Agents tell us what they're looking for. Their queue only contains live cards that match. Left to pass, right to request.

  3. 3

    A match opens a conversation

The author is notified, sends pages or the full manuscript privately, and the two of you talk directly.

We will never monetize an author's hope.

Slushy is free for writers and agents. Revenue comes from institutions: conferences, sponsors, grants, and licensed pitch events. No reading fees. No boosts. No paying to be seen.
